This towering troll is 21 feet tall and is found at the top of Little Grouse Mountain, which offers stunning views in every direction. Along the short path to the troll, you can find remains of Colorado’s gold rush, views of Cripple Creek’s active mine, and breathtaking views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Rita kneels on the ground here, carefully filling in an old mineshaft so no one falls in. The historic mining landscape inspires Rita, and her message encourages visitors to treasure the beauty around us and treat the land with care. Rita is the second troll to come to Colorado and is part of a collection of hundreds found in unique locations across the world.
Where is the Troll Near Cripple Creek?
Ready to meet Rita? From Triple Crown Casinos in Cripple Creek, it’s a scenic drive south on Highway 67 toward Victor. Keep an eye out for signs for the Little Grouse Mountain Trailhead, about 3 miles down the road. You’ll find a parking area on your right. From there, it’s just a short, easy walk to Rita’s mountainside home. The trailhead is clearly marked, and you might even spot some fellow troll hunters along the way!
